Hyuk Tae Kwon

Managing Partner & CEO

Hyuktae Kwon is the Founder and CEO of Pine Capital Management, a licensed asset management firm based in Singapore, serving leading Asian families and institutions. He also serves as Managing Partner of Pine Venture Partners, the firm’s venture capital arm, which invests in high-growth tech companies across Asia and the U.S.

Hyuktae leads Pine’s dual focus on cross-border venture capital and global wealth management. He drives proprietary deal flow, supports portfolio expansion across Asia and English-speaking markets, and oversees bespoke global equities strategies alongside top-tier partners in private credit, real estate, and hedge funds.

A passionate backer of impactful innovation, Hyuktae takes board roles and actively supports founders building culturally resonant, scalable ventures. His angel investments include:

The Pinkfong Company – creator of Baby Shark
Spatial – developer of VR hit Animal Company
Little Farms – a leading premium grocery chain in Singapore

Earlier, he co-founded and led strategy at Smartplay, a children’s content company later acquired by Pinkfong—an experience that continues to shape his founder-first approach to investing.

Hyuktae bridges Asia and the West through capital, collaboration, and a belief in long-term partnerships that drive systemic global impact.

Larry Lau

Investment Director

Larry leads investment strategy at Pine Capital, bringing over a decade of experience across portfolio management, macroeconomic research, and institutional client advisory. Prior to joining Pine Capital, he served as the lead portfolio manager of a U.S. focused public equities portfolio at a single family office.

Earlier in his career, Larry worked at DWS, Jupiter Investment Asia, and Lumen Capital Investors. He has extensive experience delivering bespoke multi-asset investment solutions to both high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients.

Hyuk Joo Kwon

Director

As Director of Pine Capital Management, Hyuk Joo shapes the firm's investment strategy in South Korea, overseeing the investment process from sourcing to due diligence.

With experience in business analysis and project management at Smart Play and Evalueserve, she excels in managing distributor performance, project coordination, and market analysis.

Shaevin Lim

Fund Operations Manager

Shaevin manages the core operations of Pine Capital Management, overseeing fund administration, compliance, investor servicing, and NAV reporting across the firm’s suite of investment vehicles. With a focus on efficiency and precision, she plays a key role in streamlining workflows, enhancing operational processes, and supporting the firm's continued growth.

Prior to joining Pine, Shaevin was part of PwC Singapore's Asset & Wealth Management division, where she led audits of investment funds, private equity, and fund management companies. With a strong foundation in both fund operations and audit, Shaevin brings a detail-oriented and governance-focused approach that strengthens operational integrity and promotes stakeholder confidence.

Li Zhixuan

Manager, CEO Office

Zhixuan serves as the Manager of the CEO Office at Pine Capital Management, leading venture capital investments, public markets portfolio management, corporate advisory, and fundraising initiatives. During his time at EY, as a management consultant in wealth and asset management, he advised global clients on strategic growth, operational efficiency, and technology integration, delivering transformative solutions.

His past role at a private equity real estate firm in Southeast Asia’s frontier markets allowed him to exercise his expertise in investment analysis, deal structuring, and portfolio oversight, navigating regulatory landscapes. A dynamic leader, Zhixuan also drives AUM growth and nurtures high-net-worth client relationships.

Hubert Chong

Marketing Manager

Hubert leads brand and marketing efforts at Pine Capital Management, overseeing strategy, content, events and community engagement across digital platforms and in-person touchpoints. His role focuses on building brand visibility, expanding reach, and amplifying Pine’s presence across key audiences.

Prior to Pine, he held roles at Mediacorp and minden.ai, a technology venture founded by Temasek and known for launching yuu Rewards Club in Singapore. There, he led social media strategy and content production. He has a strong track record in digital marketing, with a strong track record in storytelling, community-building, and cross-platform campaign execution across the media, tech, and finance sectors.

Joel Kam

Investment Manager

Joel leads the VC efforts at Pine Capital Management, overseeing investment origination, due diligence and analysis, investment execution and portfolio management. His role also encompasses value-creation for all existing portfolio companies, seeking synergies between the portcos and potential collaborators or other investors.

Prior to this, he was an investment associate in IMC Ventures, part of the TPC Group. There, he helped the parent company to invest in startups in the Maritime, Logistics, Agri-food and Well-being space, while adopting innovative solutions from various portcos to improve efficiencies. He also helped the group's M&A and Real Estate acquisition team in his time there.
