Meet the Team

Hyuk Tae Kwon

Managing Partner & CEO

Hyuktae Kwon is the Founder and CEO of Pine Capital Management, a licensed asset management firm based in Singapore, serving leading Asian families and institutions. He also serves as Managing Partner of Pine Venture Partners, the firm’s venture capital arm, which invests in high-growth tech companies across Asia and the U.S.

Hyuktae leads Pine’s dual focus on cross-border venture capital and global wealth management. He drives proprietary deal flow, supports portfolio expansion across Asia and English-speaking markets, and oversees bespoke global equities strategies alongside top-tier partners in private credit, real estate, and hedge funds.

A passionate backer of impactful innovation, Hyuktae takes board roles and actively supports founders building culturally resonant, scalable ventures. His angel investments include:

The Pinkfong Company – creator of Baby Shark
Spatial – developer of VR hit Animal Company
Little Farms – a leading premium grocery chain in Singapore

Earlier, he co-founded and led strategy at Smartplay, a children’s content company later acquired by Pinkfong—an experience that continues to shape his founder-first approach to investing.

Hyuktae bridges Asia and the West through capital, collaboration, and a belief in long-term partnerships that drive systemic global impact.

Larry Lau

Investment Director

Larry leads investment strategy at Pine Capital, bringing over a decade of experience across portfolio management, macroeconomic research, and institutional client advisory. Prior to joining Pine Capital, he served as the lead portfolio manager of a U.S. focused public equities portfolio at a single family office.

Earlier in his career, Larry worked at DWS, Jupiter Investment Asia, and Lumen Capital Investors. He has extensive experience delivering bespoke multi-asset investment solutions to both high-net-worth individuals and institutional clients.

Hyuk Joo Kwon

Director

As Director of Pine Capital Management, Hyuk Joo shapes the firm's investment strategy in South Korea, overseeing the investment process from sourcing to due diligence.

With experience in business analysis and project management at Smart Play and Evalueserve, she excels in managing distributor performance, project coordination, and market analysis.

Alice Park

Director, Operations

Alice oversees the core operations of Pine Capital Management, covering fund administration, compliance, treasury, banking operations, regulatory reporting, audit coordination, and investor-related processes across the firm’s investment vehicles.

She brings over 20 years of experience in financial institutions, asset management, treasury, compliance, and corporate finance across Singapore and Korea. Prior to joining Pine Capital, Alice held senior operations and treasury roles at SV SG Management, Sylvan Capital Management, Essencore, KOGAS International, and Divine Advisors.

With strong experience in fund operations, cross-border settlements, cash management, regulatory filings, and external service provider coordination, Alice plays a key role in strengthening Pine Capital’s operational infrastructure and supporting the firm’s investment platform.

Investment Manager

Joel Kam

Joel leads the VC efforts at Pine Capital Management, overseeing investment origination, due diligence and analysis, investment execution and portfolio management. His role also encompasses value-creation for all existing portfolio companies, seeking synergies between the portcos and potential collaborators or other investors.

Prior to this, he was an investment associate in IMC Ventures, part of the TPC Group. There, he helped the parent company to invest in startups in the Maritime, Logistics, Agri-food and Well-being space, while adopting innovative solutions from various portcos to improve efficiencies. He also helped the group's M&A and Real Estate acquisition team in his time there.
